Not All Leather is Created Equal!

At TPK, we use only Full Grain Cowhide and Premium Full Grain Steerhide for all our products. Here’s why that matters:

Best

Premium Full Grain Leather

Made from younger steer hides, this leather has extra wax to give it a rich look and feel. Ages gracefully, developing a beautiful patina.

Better

Full Grain Cowhide Leather

The top layer of the hide, full of natural markings. Ages well and wears in beautifully over time.

Good

Top Grain Leather

Sanded and refinished to remove blemishes, it’s durable but doesn’t age as gracefully as full grain leather.

Genuine Leather

Made from the split layers of the hide. It’s weaker and not as durable. We do not use Genuine Leather in any of our products.

cheap synthetic

Bonded Leather

Not real leather. Made from scraps and fibers, it’s the lowest quality and prone to tearing. We only use the finest real leather.

TPK embosses all its products “Full Grain Leather – Made in the U.S.A.” If you are looking at similar competitor products and you don’t see “full grain leather” somewhere, you should ask yourself, “what is this?” Some websites claim their products are made out of leather, but are made out of PVC or genuine leather and then stamped to make it look like real leather.
